Sacred tree of the Mayans.
The
mimosa tenuiflora is a thorny shrub, also known as jurema or
tepezcohuite, it grows mainly in Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia,
Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Venezuela.
The word tepezcohuite
comes from the náhualt tepezcuahuitl, which means "tree of the hill that
bleeds", for the Mayans it was a sacred tree for all its regenerative
properties of the skin and was known as the "tree of the skin".

eruption of the Chichonal volcano in Mexico, Dr. Roque de León
successfully used the powder of the bark of this shrub in a multitude of
wounded and got different doctors focus attention on their properties.

years later in 1984, it is used again in another accident in Mexico,
with the gas explosion in San Juan Ixhuatepec and Dr. Mario Doria
applies tepezcohuite in people who have suffered burns.
