This method owes its name to its creator Joseph Pilates who was seeking alternatives to strengthen the body, working the "Powerhouse" consisting of: abs, the base of the back and buttocks.
It is a physical fitness system that works the body as a whole, from the deepest muscles to the more peripheral, intervening mind and body.
The objective of Pilates is to restore the body to a place of balance and alignment by strengthening the core, increasing flexibility, and improving spinal mobility. This in turn contributes to a stronger body and greater ease and freedom of movement.

- Concentration: The mind and body work as a care equipo.Prestar pilates movements are doing.
- Control: A controlled and coordinated from the center and mind improving its relationship with the rest of the body movement.
- Accuracy: Each exercise has specific premises of movement must involve the body in every action as a whole.
- Strengthening the center: A physical center from which emanate all the movements. All exercises focus on the "Powerhouse" in order to stabilize the upper body and to stretch and lengthen the body.
- Fluency: Keeping pace with each exercise to perform them continuously.
- Breath: Breathing on each specific routine that allows for blood oxygenation.
