Halloween.
This date has been becoming increasingly popular worldwide, on this date, well, since days before start of horror movies on TV, which I love to see, costume parties are made, etc. But we will know a little more of this celebration.
Origin.
The Celts celebrated the end of the year with Samhain, a celebration marking the end of the harvest season in the Celtic culture. Transition was a party, in which at night, rites and religious cleansing that marked the end of summer were celebrated. Irish immigrants brought with them this tradition and spread on the American continent.

The ancient Celts believed that on the night of Halloween, spirits and ghosts roamed freely through the fields. They began wearing masks and costumes for these spirits did not realize that they were human living.
It also has its origin in the Christian feast of All Saints Day. In medieval Britain, 'Halloween' was the eve of the Catholic holidays of All Saints (from Old English 'Holy Man') on November 1, and was followed by the feast of All Saints on November 2.

It became popular.
Much of the modern supernatural lore surrounding Halloween was invented as recently as the 19th century. Scottish and Irish settlers brought the custom of the visit Mischief Night to North America, where it became known as 'Trick or Treat'. Until Halloween revival of interest in the 1970s, this American tradition was not known in England. Importing "Trick or Treat" in parts of England during the 1980s was favored by the scenes in American TV and film 1982 S.E.

Each year, Halloween causes controversy and divided opinions: most people see it as a bit of harmless fun, but modern witches say that marks an ancient pagan festival, while some evangelical Christians claim it is a celebration of the hidden forces dangerous. This explains why the folklorist Steve Roud calls it "the most widely misunderstood and misrepresented day in the year of the festival".
