Interesting facts about the Soccer World Cups.



Taking advantage of the football climate of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, I share some information that has happened throughout the World Cups.


  • The first Soccer World Cup was played in Uruguay in 1930.
  • The referee of the final of the first World Cup, the Belgian Jean Lanzhenyu, was dressed in a suit, shirt, and tie.
  • The first football world cup broadcast on television was that of Switzerland in 1954.
  • Months before the World Cup in England began in 1966, someone stole the Jules Rimet trophy, when it was exhibited in a church in London. And the cup was found by the dog named "Pickles" in the garden of a house and the thief was never found.
  • The Brazilian Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé is the only one who has won three World Cups: Sweden 1958, Chile 1962 and Mexico 1970.
