Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe December 12th. On this occasion I want to share one of the most important dates celebrated in Mexico, in which the majority of Mexicans, every December 12 celebrates the Virgin of Guadalupe, Patroness of Mexico and the Empress of America. Story. It all began in pre-Hispanic times around 1531, in the early days of December when the native Juan Diego walked up the hill, a Virgin appeared to him and asked him to go and see the Bishop, at that time, Fray Juan de Zumárraga, and expressed her wish that a Temple be built in her name on the hill of Tepeyac. Without hesitation he went to see the Bishop, who did not believe him and ordered him to return the following day. The next day the Bishop, after asking several questions, asked him to believe him, he would have to carry a sign.
