"La Catrina".


Uno de los iconos más importantes que representan la cultura mexicana alrededor del mundo es "La Catrina". Este peculiar personaje que actualmente en gran parte del mundo lo reconocen y utilizan como disfraz en Halloween y por supuesto en México el Día de muertos es una de las figuras características de estos días.



Esta elegante figura femenina tiene más de 100 años de historia. "La Catrina", fue creada por el caricaturista mexicano, originario de Aguascalientes, José Guadalupe Posada y originalmente se llamaba “La Calavera Garbancera”, cuya palabra provenía de aquellas personas que vendían garbanzo, que siendo pobres aparentaban ser ricos y querían ocultar sus raíces indígenas. Este grupo de comerciantes pretendía tener el estilo de vida de los europeos.





José Guadalupe Posada plasmó perfectamente esta crítica social en forma de burla hacia esos indígenas que se habían enriquecido y menospreciaban sus orígenes y costumbre, alcanzando la fama a nivel mundial. 


La influencia de la obra de Posada llegó al muralista Diego Rivera, quien fue el que le dio el nombre de "La Catrina" en 1947 plasmándola en su obra "Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central", en dicha obra aparece del lado derecho de "La Catrina", José Guadalupe Posada, del lado izquierdo la versión infantil de Diego Rivera y atrás Frida Kahlo, este mural muestra parte de la historia de México.


Sin lugar a duda lo que hace rico a México es toda su la cultura, tradiciones, obras y la calidez de su gente, que nos representan en todo el mundo y que nos hace sentir orgullosos a pesar de las dificultades que se viven.
